Moot + Deep Cabaret
Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom
Cobalt studios
Moot is a new collaboration between cellist Maja Bugge and drummer Ben McCabe. It is a musical discussion exploring majas compositions rooted in ideas of place, identity and heritage. Melodies, harmonies, riff and grooves come together in an unusual combination of styles and instruments. The duo will be playing tunes inspired by seabirds in the arctic.
DECOMPOSING: songs about the economics, ecology, politics and poetics of Land.
Deep Cabaret and Moot present music about the land, what it is and the ways we relate to it. Owning it, farming it, walking it, loving it. The science, the mythopoetics and the more-than-human kin of it.How to make change through a deeper attention to eider and moss, lichen and alveoli, knowing and not knowing.
Featuring the writings of David Abram, Merlin Sheldrake, Bella Bathurst and the mouthing of eiderducks. Not to mention the sound of the ecosystem that is Deep Cabaret calving into new formations (ie there may be solos and duets as well a full band).
