Lancaster Jazz festival presents SORTLAND.
SORTLAND is a meditative portrait of Maja’s home city, the ‘blue town’ situated 68 degrees north above the arctic circle. The work fuses evocative melodies, riffs and grooves inspired by this environment with a specially made backdrop of image and video. Together these elements make a playful and gentle audio visual homage to place, sound and memory. The work was commissioned by Ny Musikk Nordland and premiered at Sortland Jazz festival in 2023.
